Track: “Like Lust” – Movement

Soulfulness and patience are making their way back into post-rock/electronic music, and I love it. The Australian trio Movement offer us a deeply intimate experience in “Like Lust” with rich instrumentation and shamelessly seductive falsetto vocals. In an industry often polarized between emotionlessness and melodrama, Movement strike a delightful balance between distance and intimacy, rewarding listeners for patience above all. Indeed, “Life Lust” is repetitive because it can afford to be – the track swells and grooves on a strong framework of chord progressions and vocal sampling. It’s no surprise that Movement has toured with other post-rock/electronic groups like Darkside. Groups like Movement are bridging the gap between analog and digital and contributing to a larger shift towards soulful electronic music.
